Miami Beach The Park on Fifth implosion and more

The empty shell of the South Shore Hospital, which has been an eye sore at the gateway of Miami Beach for many years, is set to be demolished on April 16th. Developers Russell Galbut of Crescent Heights and David Martin of Terra Group will develop the 500-700 blocks of Alton Road. The Park on Fifth will include a three acre park donated to Miami Beach, a 44 story condo tower, over 50,000 sf of amenities and retail/restaurant spaces.

Developer Galbut anticipates building the 519- foot, 44 story condo tower in two years. I“We want to be finished faster than anyone else wants us to be finished,” Galbut told the community members in attendance. “If everything goes well, within a year and a half, everybody’s going to see this park and see everything going north of 6th Street pretty much intact.” Galbut said last week in the Miami Beach City Commission Development meeting.

The first 20 floors will have 11 rental units per floor. The second twenty floors will be for condominiums, with six to a floor or less.
