This highly exclusive and highly private enclave has one of the wealthiest zip code in the nation.

Fisher Island really needs no introduction. It is an exclusive 216-acre island accessible only by private ferry or helicopter and was once the island retreat for the Vanderbilts. Today, it is enjoyed by a select few of residents and it is one of the most expensive zip codes in the nation. Fisher Island’s history began in 1906 when it was dredged or separated from Miami Beach to construct deep-water docks.  Legend has it than in 1920 Miami Beach founder Carl Fisher traded 7 acres of Fisher Island for William K. Fisher Island is a secluded, high-end oasis with over a mile and a half of imported Bahamian sand that is extremely private to say the least. There are no roads that lead to Fisher Island. It is about three miles from the McArthur Causeway  in Miami Beach. Its highly secured ferry is the only way of getting across from the mainland by car and you need prearranged clearance to get into Fisher Island. If you don’t want to go by car, you can get there by helicopter or boat (clearance is just as tight). Once in Fisher Island, the preferred method of transportation is golf carts.

Less than 800 families from 42 countries own a slice of Fisher Island, although a nominal amount make Fisher Island its permanent home.  You will find several single-family homes in Fisher Island. But, by in large Fisher Island is comprised of 15 different villas/condo buildings that are just several stories high done in an inspired-Mediterranean architecture.

Fisher Island is replete of amenities, 9-hole golf course designed by P.B Dye, a tennis club rated #1 in the East Coast by Tennis magazine with 18 tennis courts, 8 restaurants, sports field, two top notch marinas that can accommodate yacht up to 250 feet, a beach club, the first class Spa Internazionale, the Vanderbilt Mansion with its saltwater pool, grocery store, post office and onsite emergency services for the well-heeled resident. The highly-vetted Fisher Island Club is the piece de resistance.
