Hibiscus and Palm Island are a set of man-made islands in South Beach that provide impressive skyline views of Miami and some of the best properties in the area. The select and affluent neighborhoods of Palm and Hibiscus were established in part as the entertainment sanctuary for winter crowds when the famous Latin Quarter Nightclub put them on the map in the 1940s-1950s. The Miami version of the Latin Quarter was established by Lou Walters, father of TV personality Barbara Walters. It drew the best entertainers of the time including Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Sammy Davis Jr. Jerry Lewis, Jack Benny and Tony Bennett who performed for snow birds in December.

These two islands were the winter homes of notables, celebrities and infamous people like Al Capone. Today, these homes were restored to their yesteryear glory while others have been completely redone.
